Nasarawa State Government has received a pat on the back for the establishment of the state Health Insurance Agency.

The Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA) was established to fulfil the needs of the populace and has been praised by civil servants in the Agwada, Loko and Udege development Areas of the state.

The compliment was given during the sensitization exercise for the start of enrolment at the grassroots level intended to achieve Universal Health Coverage by Usman Umar Magas, the Development Area' s Education Secretary.

He urged his colleagues to participate in the health insurance programme while expressing support for it, calling it a "good scheme".

He further implored the state government to continue with the programme for the sake of everyone's health, especially the poor and underprivileged.

While reassuring that the government is committed to seeing that the programme is sustained, the NASHIA Executive Secretary, Dr Gaza Gwamna, represented by the Agency's Acting Director of Marketing and Business Development, Hadiza Dogara (Mrs), said that in order for the programme to be sustained, the agency cannot cover illnesses such as cancer for now.

He said that the state government had improved access to high-quality medications to enable healthcare providers to offer their services effectively and efficiently.

Correspondingly, the agency's sensitization team on Monday visited the Ekye Development Area, Agbashi in particular.

Speaking at the programme, the Development Area 's Education Secretary, Hon Donald E. Epoh (JP), praised the agency for its efforts and pledged to continue spreading the message of awareness to the local populace.
