NASHIA, DGI Consult Organizes One-day workshop for Union Leaders
In collaboration with Development Governance International Consult (DGI), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA) has organised a one-day workshop for the Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone to improve capacity and increase awareness.
The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) hosted the exercise which was held on Tuesday at the Kini country Hotel in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.
The purpose of the session was to educate the Union's leader about NASHIA and its advantages for all types of workers in the state.
The workshop's main goal was to familiarise the Union leaders with how NASHIA operates and to win their comprehension, support, and buy-in of the workers in order to develop a plan of action for quicker employees enrollment for better access to healthcare services.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary, Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Gaza Gwamna represented by Director, Planning, Research, Statistics and ICT, Dr Simon Eric Istifanus, stressed the importance of educating the Union about the programme and its participants because it ensures that the enrollees' healthcare costs are distributed fairly.
Additionally, he said that in order to achieve Universal Health Coverage the state must ensure that every resident has access to affordable health care services without facing financial hardship.
