Northern Youth Council Honours NASHIA Executive Secretary, Dr Ubam as "Garkunwa Matassan Arewa"
The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria; an umbrella organisation of youths across the 19 states in Northern Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory Abuja (FCT) on Wednesday conferred on the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA), Dr Yahaya Bawa Ubam, the award of Garkunwa Matassan Arewa (The Shield of the Northern Youth), Icon of Nation Building.
A delegation of the council led by the Vice President, Umar Abdullahi, presented the award of Garwuwan Matasan Arewa Nigeria during the council visit to Dr Ubam in his office at the agency in Lafia.
While presenting the award, Vice President Umar noted that the award was in appreciation of the Executive Secretary immense contribution towards a united one indivisible Nigeria.
Dr Ubam was also recognised for being a vanguard to youth emancipation and serving as a bridge of national unity and consensus.
Responding, Dr Ubam expressed gratitude to the Northern Youth Council for considering him worthy of such award, appending that the award would spurred him to do more.
"With this honour, we would continue to work harder for the improvement of the lives of our people," Ubam stated.
While assuring them of his continued support, he urged young people to acquire skills in order to combat the problems associated with unemployment in society and to supplement their present sources of income.
